About Melvin

Curious by nature.
Intentional by design.

I'm a designer by profession, but curiosity is what has carried me from banking and enterprise software in Nigeria to consulting, research and building new products in Dublin.

I bring research, interaction design, service thinking, prototyping, systems thinking and emerging technology together to make complex experiences easier to use.

Beyond the work

There’s more to the story than the work.

Design has brought me into rooms with people from very different backgrounds. Some of the most useful lessons have come from the conversations between projects, the people who challenged my assumptions and the communities I’ve been fortunate to learn from.

My journey / Experience

How I got here.

I didn't begin my career designing interfaces. I began by listening to people trying to get things done—often in systems that made simple tasks unnecessarily difficult. That experience still shapes the questions I ask as a designer.

UX Design & Strategy Consultant Accenture Song

Consulting has taken me into very different worlds: machine-learning operations, healthcare, public services, energy and financial products. My role often starts when the brief is still ambiguous. I work with teams to understand the problem, make the decisions visible and create something that people can actually use. One lesson I keep returning to is that a polished interface cannot rescue a poorly understood problem.

UX Design Lead Fidelity Bank

Leading the redesign of retail and corporate banking experiences taught me to see trust as a practical design requirement. People need to know where their money is, what will happen when they confirm an action, and how to recover when something goes wrong. I worked across research, interaction design, design systems and delivery with engineering and business teams.

Senior UX & Product Designer Rivet Software / Inlaks

I worked on payment workflows and the SkillBeta learning platform. These projects stretched me beyond screens into how products are defined, how complex operations fit together, and how design decisions survive implementation. Building for financial institutions made the cost of ambiguity especially clear.

Earlier career · Nigeria

Customer-facing financial services GTBank and earlier experience

Working directly with customers gave me a view of the gap between how organisations imagine a service works and how it feels to the person using it. I carried that perspective into product design: understand the lived experience before trying to improve the interface.

Founder & Product Lead Reveta / XHunt

Building my own products has changed my relationship with design. There is no client brief to hide behind: I have to decide what is worth building, write the requirements, make trade-offs and test whether anyone actually needs the solution. XHunt explores how people can contribute skills to communities; Reveta brings together experiments in trustworthy AI and evidence-led products. These are works in progress, not finished success stories.

Mentorship and community

What I know matters more when I share it.

I've mentored designers through portfolio reviews, career questions and the messy middle of design work. What I value most is helping someone develop their own judgement, rather than handing them a template for what good design should look like.

Foróige

Volunteer student mentor

2025 January — April

My time volunteering with Foróige brought mentorship beyond the design industry. Supporting young people to build confidence, social skills and a sense of possibility reminded me that listening and encouragement are useful long before anyone has a professional title.

About Foróige ↗

Excellence through simplicity.

My work extends beyond client delivery into independent product building, mentoring, sustainability research, writing and community participation.

The work and the person behind it

Design is how I connect the dots.

My practice sits between research, product strategy, service design and technology. I am interested in what happens when complex systems meet real human needs—and how thoughtful design can make that encounter more useful, inclusive and understandable.

From financial services to intelligent products

Across banking, healthcare, enterprise operations and public services, I have worked with multidisciplinary teams to understand difficult problems, map experience journeys, prototype ideas and help translate strategy into products people can use.

My interest has increasingly extended into AI-enabled workflows, human oversight, sustainability, immersive interaction and the design of trustworthy systems.

What shapes my practice

Research before assumptions

Understanding people and their context is the starting point. Interviews, synthesis, systems mapping and testing help make hidden needs and trade-offs visible.

Technology with intention

Emerging capabilities matter when they solve a real problem. I explore AI, spatial interfaces and prototyping as ways to support human agency rather than as ends in themselves.

Community and sustainability

My sustainability research, mentoring and community initiatives reflect an interest in the wider effects of design: who participates, who benefits and what happens over time.

Writing and public ideas

Curiosity beyond client work.

I write about systems thinking, design, technology, identity and the choices that shape our collective future. My book, Designing Life’s Tapestry, explores faith, connection and wellness through everyday experiences.
